I have so many people with clothes waiting with baited breath to see where to give them. Does anyone know of a location they can be dropped off at so they go directly for those in need??? Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks :)

I wanted to thank Rick and everyone else for their compassion, support, and generosity. This week has been a blur of every emotion possible. I feel as though Iv aged 10 years in 1 week. My body is so heavy and tired and my mind wants to shut down and hibernate for a good month, but everyones support and generosity has made things easier and kept us on our feet. We really, really appreciate everything and feel blessed to have so many neighbors and strangers come together to keep us going. We wish we could help everyone more and our thoughts and hearts go out to everyone like us experiencing the same devastation. We are filled with gratitude. Thank you all again.

Additional help with living expenses

This may offer some additional help, originally posted as a press release by the Department of Insurance.

"The last thing fire evacuees should have to worry about is how to pay for their hotel stays, extra food and other additional living expenses," said Commissioner Poizner. "Many homeowners insurance policies cover some additional living expenses due to mandatory evacuations. Evacuees should check their policies as soon as possible, and if they have any insurance questions, they should call my Department at 800-927-HELP."

Many residential homeowners insurance policies cover what is known as ALE, or additional living expenses. This permits homeowners to maintain their normal standard of living by covering the increased living expenses incurred as a result of damage caused by the fire or a mandatory evacuation. ALE coverage typically includes extra food costs, increased housing costs, furniture rental, relocation and storage costs, telephone installation and extra transportation costs to and from school or work."

We just want to say how thankful we are for all the offers of kindness and help. It is truly a blessing during this difficult time to know that there are people who actually feel our pain and want to be with us and assist us. May the Lord richly bless you all! The McDermott Family

If there is someone skilled in organizing events - I think this would be a great way to raise proceeds for the now homeless. Just a thought...
