Hello, We just started rebuilding and the city has charged us school fees in order to obtain the rebuilding permits. Shouldn't we be able to have some of those fees waved? Feedback? Thanks,

Six to seven tons of furniture, clothing, appliances and other donations are now being processed daily for Tea Fire victims and others in need, according to Salvation Army Corps Capt. John Greholver.

"We're getting all kinds of furniture -- beds, mattresses, couches and dinette sets," Capt. Greholver said by phone. "We get refrigerators, washers and dryers."

Furniture donations vary among nonprofit organizations, but they're ready… Continue

Contractor will match Tea Fire donations

A local contractor has renewed his challenge to the community, first made in the immediate aftermath of the Tea Fire, to rise up in an effort to help victims of the destructive blaze.

David Lack has started the Tea Fire Victims Lack Challenge, in which he will match up to $10,000 of contributions to a fund set up at Bank of Santa Barbara.

"Last week's Tea Fire has destroyed the homes of many of our friends, neighbors and fellow citizens. Most of these folks are now homeless, grief stricken, an… Continue

Thank you...We need bath towels, a toaster oven, tv, radio or stereo, camping equipment such as a tent or sleeping bags, books or anything to take our mind off of things, a couch, kitchen things such as pots and pans, plates, tupperware, knives, etc. We don't know where to start, the more and more we think about it, the more we realize how much we lost. But we still have each other and we feel lucky for that, but no one could ever prepare for this kind of devastation. We have received a lot of clothing from many kind and generous people which we appreciate so that is at the end of the list now, but basic household things and furniture we still need. We are staying with a friend right now and trying to decide our next move. We want to get a camper up at the property and stay up there so we still feel like we are home, so we will see how that pans out. Tomorrow we are going up to sift through the ashes even though there is total destruction we need some kind of closure. We would also like to help others that lost their home. We have nothing to give except for our time and sweat so if anyone needs help sifting through their ashes or help cleaning up and cutting down trees or anything like that we would love to help. I wish I could wrap my arms around everyone else that is feeling the same devastation. My thoughts and heart goes out to everyone. If anyone needs any support I would love to get together with others just to share our stories and support, maybe have a good cry and laugh together would help each other. Anyway, thank you for starting this online community so we can all come together, and thank you everyone that is helping in anyway that they can, we really appreciate it and if anything good comes out of this it will be that we will all become better, more compassionate, thankful, and loving people. Thank you again.

This rental offer is available to any individual, couple or family that has lost their home to the fires. I thought that it was published as such, although I seem to have made a mistake regarding that.

If you could please post it in a way that it is available to your general readership it would be helpful.

Thank You, Biss

First of all, I am so sorry that you have been so devastated by the recent events.

I do have one option to offer for help, if it may work for you...

I have a 31' Class A motor coach that I would be able to make available at your convenience as soon as Monday.

It can sleep up to five people comfortably, has TV & radio as well as video and DVD. Fully functional plumbing w/hot and cold water, toilet and shower facility, can be connected to cable and telephone, electric. Fully functioning kitchen with stove, oven microwave and a combination refrigerator/freezer & air conditioning.

If you would like to talk with me - please send me an e-maiI me to zoneposter@yahoo.com. We can then set up a time to meet at your convenience. I would be happy to deliver the coach to a location of your choice and assist you in getting it set up. I understand that it is a difficult time for you - in the meantime, it may be of help.
